Production[]

Lamborghini announced plans to produce 20 cars for track use only in mid-2011 with each car costing US$2.92 million. At that time, the Sesto Elemento was the most expensive Lamborghini ever made, until the Veneno was launched, with the price of the car as high as GB£4,162,150 (US$6.5 million). Due to lack of interest for such an expensive car that was not road legal, Lamborghini was unable to find 20 customers willing to purchase the Sesto Elemento. It is widely believed that Lamborghini ended up producing just 10 Sesto Elemento, rather than the planned 20. This is corroborated through the record keeping of vehicle identification numbers, but has not been admitted publicly by Lamborghini.

Singapore was the recipient of more cars than any other country with four cars arriving in 2014, though some have since left the country. The United States of America received no Sesto Elementos, though a demonstration chassis resides at the Boeing Everett Factory occasionally on display, as Boeing aided Lamborghini in their carbon fibre development.[citation needed]

Design and specifications[]

The Sesto Elemento is equipped with Lamborghini’s 6-speed «e-gear» automated manual transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, mated to a 5.2 litre V10 engine borrowed from the , generating 570 PS (419 kW; 562 hp) and 540 N·m (398 lbf·ft) of torque. The chassis, body, drive shaft and suspension components are made of carbon fibre, reducing the overall weight to 999 kg ( lb), a weight comparable to subcompact cars. The Sesto Elemento was the first car to use forged carbon fibre (in the tub and suspension arms), a new type of carbon composite developed by Lamborghini and Callaway Golf Company.

The engine is cooled through 10 distinctive hexagonal holes in the engine cover, while two intakes funnel cool air into the mid-mounted engine compartment and the exhaust pipes are positioned in the rear wing. Lamborghini claims a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) acceleration time of 2.5 seconds, 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) time of 8.0 seconds, and a top speed in excess of 356 km/h (221 mph).

The interior of the Sesto Elemento is generally bare without vehicle comforts such as air-conditioning and stereo. The Sesto Elemento also lacks seats, instead having foam padding directly adhered to the carbon fibre chassis.

Performance[]

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is a lightweight car intended for track use. Its all-wheel drive drivetrain, in tandem with a low weight, makes it one of the fastest-accelerating cars in the series, capable of 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, all with very little chance of wheelspin. Top speed is 214 mph (344 km/h), making it only marginally faster than the Lamborghini Veneno.

Exceptional handling performance is provided through a sharp steering, low weight and very efficient brakes, allowing the Sesto Elemento to take on technical race tracks much more easily than cars with higher power or slightly higher Performance Index numbers, although the Forza Motorsport 7 rendition of the car shows more understeer.

Upgrading the Sesto Elemento with engine upgrades allows it to reach extreme top speeds and even faster acceleration, such as 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in less than 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 271 mph (436 km/h), all while still having very sharp handling and efficient braking without the need of aero upgrades. With a suitable tune, it can complete a one-mile drag race in less than 20 seconds.

Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato 2014, 3 000 000 $

The Sesto Elemento is a limited production, non-road legal supercar by Lamborghini that debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The Sesto Elemento’s name means «Sixth Element» in English and is a reference to the atomic number of carbon, the sixth element in the Periodic Table, in recognition of the car’s extensive use of carbon fiber. As one of the most exclusive Lamborghini models ever, only 20 units were produced.

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, with a price of US$2.2 million, also became the most expensive Lamborghini car ever made until the introduction of the Lamborghini Veneno in 2013, which costs up to US$4.5 million (US$7.4 million for some Roadster variants).

Drivetrain

The 5.2L (5,204 cc) V10 is sourced from the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, with a power output of 571 hp (426 kW) and a torque rating of 398 ft·lb (540 N·m), although the Xbox 360 renditions of the car have a power rating of 562 hp (419 kW), identical to the Gallardo Superleggera.

Air is released through ten distinctive hexagonal holes in the engine cover, while two intakes bring in cool air into the engine. With a weight of 2202 lb (999 kg), it has a power-to-weight ratio of 572 hp (427 kW), one of the highest for any Lamborghini, only beaten by the Lamborghini Egoista’s 623 hp (465 kW) per tonne, which is not featured in the Forza series.

Platform

The Sesto Elemento uses an extremely lightweight chassis built from advanced carbon fiber technology, with the driveshaft and suspension also being built entirely from carbon fiber. There are only bare minimal comforts of air conditioning and car stereo. As a result, the Sesto Elemento is among one of the lightest Lamborghinis ever made, weighing only 2202 lb (999 kg), although the Xbox 360 renditions of the car weigh 2593 lb (1176 kg).
