Volkswagen Senda.
The Volkswagen Voyage was manufactured and presented in Brazil in , and was launched to the public as a response to the challenge of the competition that implemented new models with front-wheel drive and 5-speed gearboxes, something new and far superior to the old Volkswagen I beetle .
This car was designed in Brazil , on the developed , which was designed entirely by Volkswagen do Brasil , to hunt down the modern vehicles of the competition ( Fiat 147 , Chevrolet Chevette ) and to retire the little-required Beetle and Brasilia.
The Voyage was manufactured in Argentina from the year 1983, initially under the name Gacel . Its mission was to replace the aging VW 1500 , which could no longer cope with the «new breed» of vehicles such as the Ford Escort or the Renault 9 .
In 1990 the Gacel changed its name to Senda . Although both vehicles were identical in bodywork and mechanics, the Senda came with basic equipment inside. Just a few changes, such as a small restyling on the front, marked the difference between the Senda and the Gacel.
But if they differed in something from their Brazilian cousin Voyage, it was that both vehicles were always manufactured in Argentina with 4-door bodies, while the Voyage was manufactured in Brazil with 2-door bodies. Also in those years, the Pick-Up version of the Senda, the Saveiro , was launched on the Argentine market .
These vehicles were manufactured in Argentina with 1.6 and 1.8 naphtha engines or with 1.6 Diesel engines. All equipped with the same 5-speed manual gearbox. However, the appearance in 1991 of the Volkswagen Gol in Argentina, caused less interest in the people for the Senda or the Gacel. So much so, that the renovation of the Gol in 1995 was not accompanied by a renovation of the Senda, so this vehicle was replaced by the Volkswagen Polo in 1996.

At the end of 1990, the low production of the Gacel brought forward the debut of the , which obtained a victory in its second participation, gave Volkswagen the third place in 1990 and obtained the runner-up in 1991.
